Hello everyone

It's my first time to own an iPhone (4S). I had heard a lot about jailbreaking iPhone, advantages & disadvantages, so I decided to jailbreak my iPhone to get those advantages. One of the disadvantages of jailbreaking that I read was that you cannot update your iOS, I thought I wouldn't care much for a newer iOS version, but when Apple has released the newest version which is iOS 9 with it's awesome new features, I wanted to try it out because the new features attracted me, so I decided to Erase all data & content on my iPhone from settings > general > reset. My iPhone shut down, and It was capable of only showing the Apple logo on the screen, a problem that I'm struggling to fix until this moment. I read about putting my iPhone in recovery mode, then connecting it with iTunes whereby I would be able to restore the phone to it's factory settings, unfortunately the iTunes required updating the iOS version to the latest one, I attempted to update it (in order to restore the phone after fulfilling iTunes requirement), but I got an error that's not regarding my internet connection, It's "Time out" error, something like that. I went by the store I purchased my iPhone from, they told me there that the Jailbreak is holding the iOS settings and version, so I cannot update the phone until It's un-jailbroken. Now I'm too confused and I am not able to find any proper way to fix my iPhone. Is it going to sort it all out if I attempt to re-install the current iOS version that I jailbreaked (iOS 8.4)? Please help me, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks for the time you've spent reading this. I appreciate any support!

I meant my current iOS version installed on the phone is iOS 8.4. If I attempt to restore my iPhone through iTunes, It requires me to install the latest iOS version then restore, and I won't be able to do that because I need to install the jailbroken software first which is 8.4. Also, according to some other forum, Apple has stopped signing iOS 8.4, this means I will not be able to install it on the device, is this correct?

Use Cydia Impactor to restore your device to stock iOS

You will remain on iOS 8.4 if you use cydia impactor

OP is in a bootloop and Erase All Content and Settings has disrupted the jailbreak. So I doubt OP would be able to get into Safe Mode to fix anything at this point.

OP. Put your phone in DFU mode (Google how to do that). When you are in DFU mode your screen will be black (nothing on it). If you have an iTunes symbol and and cable then you are in recovery mode and not DFU mode.

Before you do this though, update iTunes. Connect your phone then put it in DFU mode.

iTunes will detect your iPhone. Let it upgrade and restore. When done, you will be on iOS 9.

P.S. OP, next time you want to unjailbreak, ask questions first. What you did is the LAST thing you want to do to unjailbreak. With a jailbreak, Erase All Contents and Settings is bad news.

Hello eyoungren

I will follow your steps carefully and let you know about the results, thank you.

From the videos I watched on YT about how to put your phone into DFU mode, the phones must be unlocked and turned on. However, in my case I can't turn the phone ON, I mean I can't get the homepage and the other phone features, the phone just do only two things; showing Apple logo, or be in recovery mode. How can I put it in DFU mode while It's not turned on?

Immediately hold down the Home and Sleep buttons to wake up the phone for 10 seconds, then release the Sleep button and continue holding down the Home button until iTunes notifies you that the iPhone needs to be restored. This should put you into DFU mode.

Thanks, I skimmed through the post and must've missed that

As said in the post below you, you can enter DFU mode in the off state. However, I've noticed times when your device isn't functioning properly (boot loops, etc), you'll have to adjust the timing until you get it right

For example, you are normally supposed to hold the buttons for 10 seconds but find through trial and error that you have to hold the buttons for 8 seconds to work

What you can do if you can't catch it right is shut it off. And then start from the beginning.

It's fairly easy to do that. All you have to do is press the home button and power button together (as if you were going to do a hard reset but without the turning it back on/reboot part). Release both of them when you see the screen go dark. The phone will be off.

Then start the DFU process from a powered off state.

Hello eyoungren

I'm talking to you right now from my iPhone. Your steps worked perfectly, thank you for helping me m8. Thank you again!
