Faint beeping sound

Maybe twice a week, I’ll hear a faint higher-pitched “beep beep beep” usually out of the left AirPod (first generation). It reminds me of a hearing test beeping. Very faint. Does this a few times then stops. This is not a low battery warning as this happens when amply charged. Any ideas?
