Fake Amazon Order Confirmation

I order from Amazon all the time, have been for about 3 years now. But, havn’t ordered anything within the last 2 weeks and already received that last order. No one else in my household that could have ordered anything. So I see an email from Amazon that says ‘Your Order Confirmation’, looks just like it always does. My first thought was, oh, no, an accidental One Click Order. So, of course, I click on Order Details on the email, which redirects 3-4 places (if you watch the URL flashing in the address bar at top) Ends up on a page to apply for a loan. I have not contacted Amazon (yet) since I will watch for any fake charge on my CC. As a habit I dont ever click on anything but the bad guys are getting smarter. I sure hope I didnt download any malware on my ipad.

Same here, been getting a lot of these. Definite phishing, nothing at all to do with Amazon.

The real threat is that you log in to a fake site thinking it's Amazon enabling them to capture your password. If you didn't do anything like that - provide some kind of credentials - you should be OK.

I get these Phishing emails from time to time too. I forward them to: stop-spoofing[at]amazon.com

On my computer, if I'm not sure if it's legit or not, I hover over the link (not click) to see where it might take me. That usually gives it away that it's fake.

You can do the same on an iPad, just very carefully press and hold on the link.

I got this too. I could tell just from the preview that it was fake. Scary though.

Never use a link in an email. Type the base web address yourself and then find what you want thru the website.

Amazon addresses the issue and how to handle it here, at their website. Google Search for "Amazon fake emails 2017" (without quotes) yields the first two results from Amazon security. (You may easily hover over my link to verify legit.)

Thank you. I did test the ‘hover’ feature on my ipad and it worked. Did not know I could do that on my ipad.

If you didn’t already, go to History and delete that site, or just do a Clear History for the last hour. Both get rid of any cookies or web site data that the site may have installed.

I very much appreciate all the help you guys have given me. I try to be very careful when it come to anything on the internet, but I am of the older generation so what to do in cases lije this just doesnt come natural to me.
I had not but at your advice, I cleared all history on my ipad. Hope its not too late!
