Ok... I need help. I have been led to believe that a screenshot of an iMessage is from an unknown sender that is of a harassing nature. I’ve spoken with someone more knowledgeable than I and they agree it looks like it may be self created by the person who received it (ex wife). My question is, is there anyway the screenshot could be from an unknown sender by some app or settings or is it doctored you look convincing to an untrained eye? My ex has been very convincing she’s no knowledge of it so here is evidence. Is it enough to convict her or is there some way to do this to someone? Can you be specific in analysis?

Unless you’re a forensic scientist who specializes in these things, it’s hard to tell. The thing you have to ask yourself is, ‘what if this is real, and someone really is stalk/harassing her’? Could you live with the guilt if something happened? Not making any judgments here, since you know her and we don’t. You have to do what you believe is best.

So based on the screenshot alone it’s impossible to tell? I guess maybe I’m asking: is there a way, without adding “No Caller ID” to your contact list and texting yourself, to make an iMessage come through like this?

Have a look at this page. Interesting...

It's very easy to send texts from fake numbers. There are a few apps for that.

Not only from fake numbers, but you could also make it look like it's coming from a known phone number (other than the senders true #).

Right, so is the screenshot an attempt to make it look like it’s coming from an unknown number, or could it really be from someone else?

As mentioned, seems like there are multiple potential possibilities without any straightforward way to tell which one it ultimately might really be.

i appreciate the input. I know it’s hard to tell from a screenshot. :(
