They had windows 7 ads right during the TV show.

At one point, the rainbow wheel pops up and Peter says, "Op hang on a second. It's doing something. It's doing something." It stays there for another 5 or so seconds, then cuts to a windows 7 commercial.

Microsoft is REALLY gearing this campaign hard against mac.

Yes, and Microsoft then got slammed by their shareholders for using Family Guy as a ad means (see: angry parenting organizations).

I watch the torrent version so I skipped out on the advert, but I saw that bit of the show and thought WTF. More so than the usual "Family Guy WTF" moments.

Did anyone see that live comedy show Seth Macfarlane put on? Good heavens it was poor. That, the departure of Cleveland and the falling episode quality are really making me want to stop watching .

The fact that

The fact that the show is written by manatees makes me want to stop watching. Oh wait, I stopped a long time ago.

I actually stopped when I saw American Dad for the first time. I just can not support that blow hard idiot. Then he made the Cleveland show. Ughhhhh

This flashback formula is so ridiculous. It allows them to entirely forget about plot, character development, and all the other things that make for good TV.

Its a shame that broadcast networks wont carry any truly funny shows.... Think.... METALOCALYPSE :D

Microsoft may play down Mac and frequently like to remind everyone that "9 out of 10 people" choose PC over mac but this is hardly the problem.

The fact of the matter is, I can sell a ton of product and have this fantastic market share however if my profits are so razor thin it doesn't do me much good.

Case in point, when you have over 1 thousand dollars to spend, A large chunk of people are likely go to for a mac instead of a PC. 48% revenues in Desktops are now Mac (which cost 1300 dollars on average compared to 500 for a PC) and Apple makes a killing on it.

By selling computers that actually have profits for a good size on them, Apple makes HUGE amounts of money and stays out of the 500 dollar razor thin margin market that PC vendors fight and die over.

I think the impact of windows 7 on this problem is probably going to be pretty small unless microsoft can figure out a way to push PC vendors to sell BETTER hardware at the higher price points. Microsoft either needs to make these computers and license out Windows for the low end of the market that are low margin or work with vendors to get the hardware to function better and be more integrated with the hardware the way Mac.

That is 48% soon to be over 50% of revenue (that is where you money is) that Apple is getting and Microsoft shareholders are soo up in arms.

Microsoft is trying to get more money buy flirting with the idea of raising the license cost of windows but PC vendors can't afford that and Microsoft knows it.

You're right. Mainly because Microsoft don't sell PCs and make a great margin on Windows and Office. Their profits are pretty good.

Why does it matter?
After showing their poor taste in pretty much everything they possibly could, they've passed to Comedy cartoons now. Family Guy. I'd rather watch Terrance and Philip.

If I didn't like McFarlane before, I've completely lost the will to try and accept his work now. I'd like to see how well his cartoon would do if they started producing it on "Windows 7".

Bah, I cant believe Seth is selling out like this. I'd expect this stuff from The Simpsons.

:(
Wait, really? You can't believe Seth MacFarlane is selling out despite him agreeing to every possible endorsement deal over the last few years? You'd expect in-episode advertisements in The Simpsons, which has been around for more than twice as long and hasn't been known to feature them at all, versus Family Guy where the plot is just as irrelevant as all of the frequent cutaway gags?

Why?

You must be reading other financial reports from Microsoft than the rest of the world, then. The numbers that I read clearly say that Microsoft is immensely profitable. And you were talking about Microsoft, not about low-end/low-cost OEMs, were you?

On the other hand, if Apple has those huge margins that you are mentioning, then this is perfect evidence that there is a huge Apple tax on their hardware - and that their products are overpriced.
