Hey all.

I hope you are all enjoying iOS 5 as much as I am.. with one exception.

I share an Apple ID with my family as we all use the same account to make purchases on iTunes and the App Stores.

We would like to keep sharing the Apple ID for purchases, but different iCloud accounts would be nice so we don't need to ruin each others iCal/Photos/Contacts etc...

Does anyone here have any suggestions for us? I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

Austin

Each person on their own devices should go to settings and turn setup iCloud. They can create their own account during that process.

iOS is already set up for that: you have one account for the Apple Store, and another account for iCloud. These are often the same, but they don't have to be.

Edit: actually, no, they have to be different. Apple doesn't allow a me.com address for the store id.

As others have said, each person sets up a "new Apple ID" when they configure their devices with iOS 5. This new Apple ID is strictly for iCloud purposes. I used my new @me.com address.

iCloud uses these unique Apple IDs to keep your calendars, contacts, etc. all separate.

Books, Apps, Music require an additional Apple ID. This can either be the same or different. In your case, everyone will use the same Apple ID tied to your credit card.

The solutions you guys are all giving me are so simple I can't believe I overlooked that.

I appreciate all of your help... you saved me a lot of time and from stressing any longer.

I had the same concerns. Thanks for the answers to put my mind at ease! Upvotes!

I assume this is the same for Find My Friends.

Blah - I am having troubles with this again.

I have made my own @me.com email, and when I log in, it logs me into the original Apple ID that we all share.

Now I am wondering what in the world I need to do.. since there is no way I can log in without being redirected to the original Apple ID account.

The only difference when I log in with the @me account is that my device saves the @me address for Mail, but uses the main Apple ID account for everything else.

I have been playing with this for a few hours still and no resolve. Every time I log into my @me account, it logs me in as the @gmail (Family Apple ID) account.

Delete the account in your iPhone and create new.
