I could use some advice regarding the proper/best way to setup Family Sharing and Apple Music Family Plan when using a different Apple ID for purchases, as contemplated in the following apple support document.

Like many others, I have two Apple IDs: one is an old legacy ID from the early days of iTunes that our family of 4 shares for iTunes/app store/subscriptions (17 years of music/app purchases/playlists/metadata…it is our central/master account for these purchases); and the other is my iCloud/me/mac ID that I use for all things iCloud (photos, iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud storage). As discussed in other threads, there is no way to merge these two accounts and I am reluctant to abandon my purchases or start fresh. An Apple Support rep suggested I add the iTunes ID as a family member to our existing family sharing, but it's not functioning well (iTunes ID is not shown separately in family list, "ask to buy" prompts kids for iTunes ID password, all family member's devices receive Two-Factor Authentication alerts for the iTunes ID, I'm forced to use the iTunes ID as my Apple Music profile.)

My setup: my iCloud ID is log in as the organizer with iTunes ID logged in as both "Purchases" and my devices "Media & Purchases."
My family: Each are logged in on their devices using their own iCloud IDs for "Media & Purchases."
Apple music family is purchased by my iTunes ID

If I make a change to instead use my iCloud ID for "Purchases", then I can't revert back for 90 days if it doesn't resolve my issues.

So, for those with different Apple IDs, like me, please share your setup...

Which ID do you use as the organizer?
Which ID do you log-in under family sharing "Purchases"?
Which ID do you login under "Media & Purchases" for each family member's (including the organizer's) device?
Which ID holds the Apple Music Family subscription?
Which ID do you login as main Apple TVs/Homepod Accounts?

Many thanks!

You're in the same situation as mine. What I plan to do when I'll subscribe to Apple One next month is
First: I plan to keep my iTunes ID as an organizer. Changing that will make everything confusing.
Second: Change iTunes ID on my wife devices from my iTunes ID to her iCloud ID. This will suck a bit because she will have to re-buy some apps that doesn't offer Family Sharing but she mainly download free apps anyway so it wouldn't hurt much.
And then everything will fall right into place. She will have different ID than mine and will have her own accounts on everything: Music, TV+, News+, Fitness+, Arcade etc. yet still share Family plan with mine.

Thanks for sharing your set up! I ruled out changing the family sharing organizer from my iCloud ID to my iTunes ID, as I'd really like to transition away from my iTunes ID and I feel that the suggestion to simply join it as another family member seems to be the prevailing solution here, especially if approving kids purchases. Changing the organizer would also required disbanding/regrouping the family and risk a one year wait to then regroup it back if needed. Given the lack of more replies here after over 360 views, I'm thinking about taking the "leap of faith" and just changing my family sharing "purchases" log-in to my iCloud ID to see if I can get the iTunes ID to show up as a separate member in the family sharing list. It will be a long 90 days to switch back if I am wrong, but I'd just like to get this all working correctly (apple music profiles, purchase approvals, siri voice recognition, annoying two-factor alerts, etc). If it works I'll then start making subscription and app purchases with my iCloud ID going forward. I'll also need to transfer all my playlists and purchased music through "home sharing" and just start fresh.
