Good afternoon all, I have a MacBook 9.2 (mid) 2012 running 13.4 and am looking for a fan control that I can set a threshold for my fan to cut off and start back up from. I have done a lot of work on my hardware. among others, a new fan, new heat sink, new thermal paste. it stays on my desk at home on a dual fan cooling pad, I keep on, only time I turn off is to reset after doing maintenance on Sundays. I have a temp and fan speed monitor installed and it never gets hotter than around 180degfer, normally runs in the 130 range, except of course when I am working it hard. I hate to think of fan running 24/7, truthfully I don't know if fan runs when it's asleep. if it doesn't then that would negate the purpose of this post.

It's not possible to set the fan speed lower than the value decided by the SMC (higher is allowed). You would need to bypass the mechanism by rewiring and hardware mods.
