Why does the fan on the iMac 27" late 2015 run at 1200 rpm no matter if the temperature is 20 or 60 degrees celsius? It is really annoying, the fan is much more noticeable than on my MacBook retina 2012. Why can't it throttle down to for example 1000 rpm when it is not under any load?

I would assume because its because of the the tight space. Jamming a full computer and display into a very thin enclosure has some consequences and one of those is that I think it does a bad job at cooling the components. The fans have to keep air flowing

FWIW, I really don't even hear my fan, and don't pay attention if its running or not.
