Is it normal for the fan to run at about 6500rpm when you first start up VMFusion? I run XP Pro and it does that for the first few minutes.

to be more accurate it kinda runs higher all the time

You're running an additional operating system and virtual machine on top of OS X. It's processor intensive at startup.

I guess that would make sense right? haha

I was also wondering, i use istat pro andd it says "WindowsSer...." I was wondering if anyone knew what that meant... it runs at start up even when not running the virtual machine

in my Vista installation under Leopard, my fans usually run between 1000 and 2000 RPMs. even as i type this with Vista running, the fans are at 1050. i suppose it depends on what you're doing, too. i only have iTunes, iCal, Safari, and Fusion running right now, so my setup may be less processor-dependent than yours.
