Hey,

Download iStat Pro from iSlayer.com.

Cheers

When I got my MBA I read posts talking about noisy, constantly running fans. I was dismayed. Mine is so silent. Not until I installed iStat did I realize that the fan was always running at a baseline 2500 rpm!

Same for me as well. My fan speed has been at 2498 consistently, and once in a while, if the CPU is running a lot of applications will it jump to to 6200 and then drop back down though.

What firmware update are you referring to? I don't recall getting one for the Air yet.

I think he's referring to Apple's SMC Update that updates earlier MBA's to SMC version 1.23f9. If you check your System Profiler on the first Hardware Overview tab, if you have SMC version 1.23f9, the SMC update posted on Apple's site won't do anything (you already have the update).

My fan speeds are in line with what others are saying.

You're right. It snuck its way in there when I wasn't looking:D
