My MBA (13"/4GB/128GB) is acting up and it just started tonight. Earlier tonight I noticed my MBA stopped playing videos on Engadget.com in Google Chrome, so every flash window in Chrome was just showing a black box. This concerned me as it was working before with no problems. I then restarted the browser and tried again and nothing. No video. I then looked at Chrome's task manager and flash wasn't running as it usually is. Now, here's where the weird stuff starts happening. Whenever I go onto a page that has a flash video that is supposed to load and the black box shows up, my fans start to go crazy and go all the way up to 5000+ RPM.
I don't know if it's Google Chrome causing it, or another process, but I looked at Activity Monitor and nothing seems to really be the culprit, as whenever it happens, different processes seem to spike in Activity Monitor and my CPU Graph on the bottom of Activity Monitor starts to show high levels of CPU Usage. The weird thing is, the temps don't get that high. They're only getting to about 61°C (142°F), which isn't that high and normally around that temp my fans are usually at 2500 RPM.
So, can anyone help me out here? Would resetting PVRAM or NVRAM or whatever it is help? Will I have to reinstall the OS?
Any help is welcome.
Thanks.
EDIT: Here's a picture showing the spike in CPU Usage in the CPU Graph. Also take notice of the fan speed as that screenshot was taken when it was starting to go up. Also take note of the fact that I don't have many things running in the background as you can see from my Dock.
