Hi my mac sometimes gets quite hot around 74degrees (cpu) so i installed smc fan controll which i like i set my fans 200rpms above the normal minumum to keep it cool as my room is hot. so my average cpu temp when web browsing is around 46degrees to 56degrees but then when i do intensive things like minecraft my fan speed never seems to change any ideas? what temperature should my fan turn on at above minum?

also if i want to reset my SMC on 2012 mac mini how do i know if it has been successfull can someone please tell me

The fan in a 2012 mini doesn't kick in until it is fairly hot. In celsius, the fan on my 2.6GHz quad does not really move until it is 85C. That is how it is designed. Apple makes it that way. Quiet unless really needed. I let the OS control it.

The following are only approx and from memory.

Hovers around 1800rpm until 65-70C

Hovers around 2000-2500rpm until 80-85C

Begins to ramp up significantly to 3500-4000rpm after 85C

Around 95C+ it should sit on 5500rpm which is the max rpm

Once the temp starts dropping back below 95C or so then the fan slows a little and may hover around 4500rpm or so.

Your mini can safely sit on 100C. Its max is 105C. My 2.6GHz which is the hottest mini regularly sits on approx 100C for hours while I code in Handbrake.

I have said it many times but... most people go though the initial 'OMG the temp!!'. You'll get over it. The mini was designed that way. Apple did a lot of work on the temp thresholds. You don't find too many posts talking about burnt out minis.

Ok thanks i got rid of the smc controller and i have switched back to normal and reset my smc. so i am rested now i know the fans are ok

This is not "Quite Hot". Nor is 82˚C.

As said, your real problem is that you are trying to manage your OS, rather than letting it manage itself, so that you can get on with your important GIFs of cats, cure for cancer, zombie massacre, etc.

I thought it is PNG (i.e. lossless + alpha channel for the shadow(s))!?
