Hi All,

Long time lurker of these forums. I upgraded to Catalina two nights ago on my Early 2013 MBP Retina. It's been running fine but for some reason my fans are going at full speed non-stop. Multiple restarts didn't really help. Is it indexing or something?

Also the notebook is hotter upon touch. When I look at the Activity Monitor app, most of the cpu (40%) is being used by some kernel_task progam.

Anyone else experiencing similar symptoms after their update?

Thank you in advance for all the advice and guidance.

Usually this is expected a day or two after installation and depending on your configuration it may take some time to "settle" down. But if it takes longer than that, it's probably some sort of kernel issue you are experiencing.

Don't take it personally @MotherFinMike but latest OS release has major flaws and you suggest a fan control app as a solution ?:)

Anyway if you want a solid and open source app to control your fans have a look at: https://github.com/hholtmann/smcFanControl
