How far from your Face are you able to unlock your iPhone X. For mine, I can unlock it from pretty far (hand length), if I am in the same position I was, when I was setting up Face ID. In every other area, I am noticing I need to bring it a bit closer for Face ID to work. How are your experiences with distance and Face ID unlocking?

I haven’t played around like that. I just use my phone. :p.
FaceID has been 100% flawless for me.
With my contacts, without my contacts, with my glasses, without my glasses, with my sunglasses, without my sunglasses, during the day, during the night, inside, outside, lying flat on the coffee table in front of my sofa and any combinations of those.
When lying flat on the coffee table I can lean forward slightly to be able to reach the phone and tap it (to wake) and bingo unlocked.
Just flawless.

I’m about arms length. Any more than that, no dice - especially at an indirect angle.

the range for me is a little closer than full arm's length away for reliable unlocking.

after a few quick tries at absolute full arm's length, i'd say it works 'sometimes'.
