My mid-2015 15" Pro has been my ride or die since getting it. It has taken me through a whole bachelor's degree and beyond. It's a 16/256 model with 4 core i7 processor. Still pretty fast for my needs, boots up quickly, and is still in mint condition. That made it hard to move on, but I have been wanting something with a smaller footprint, better battery and screen. Between the education pricing, $100 trade-in discount, and a $100 gift card, it was time to snag an M4 16/512 14" Pro for $1299. I actually like the keyboard on the 2015 slightly better (key spacing), but everything else feels like a huge upgrade. With 900+ cycles on the 2015's battery, I only got about 6 hours of unplugged productivity. The new screen is incredible, and the M4 is blazing fast. I'm planning to get many years out of it like I did the 2015.

I considered a 15" Air, but I didn't want to be stuck for years to come with the current screen they have, and didn't want to wait for the M4 Airs to see if they upgrade it. For future proofing my needs, I'm glad to have stuck with a Pro.

I have the same - MBP except 512. When I decided to return to school, it was the first thing I opted to purchase. It got me through all my courses and then some. Looking back, it was one of my favourite purchases with zero buyer's remorse.

That's exactly how I feel. I went back to school starting in 2018, bought this off marketplace for $600, which was a steal at the time, and provided me huge value.

The keyboards on the unibody and retina unibody MBP are the best Apple ever made. Someone at work asked me to wipe and do a clean install on a 2014 13” Retina so they could donate it last week and I’ll be danged if that still isn’t the best physical form of MacBook Pro Apple has ever done.

Glad to hear I’m not alone. I can really FLY on the 2015 keyboard.

How much did you get for the 2015?.

Congrats! I recently picked up a MBP M4 Pro 24/512 and have been having fun getting it all setup. So far so good! I was happy to find out that my existing Dell 4K display would hook up via Thunderbolt, and I grabbed a Studio Display for a 2nd monitor. The combo of the two gives me the color capabilities of the ASD, and 32" Dell looks surprisingly sharp, so much in that that I use it as my main display. I can see the ASD being great for photo and video work which I will get to, but I'm glad the Dell is working so well. If I had known it would have looked so sharp I probably would have delayed the purchase of the ASD, stupid me for not checking it out first.

Congratulations, it's always great to see a happy user.

I'm keeping my 2015 15" MBP for now. I don't do any work on this machine.

I cannot live with small laptop screens, so I can only upgrade to a 15" MBA, which costs £1,700 for 24/512.
Just cannot justify spending £1,500 (price after using my friend's employee discount) to get - for my usage - the same machine.

The only impetus to upgrade comes from reading these forums - otherwise makes no sense for me at all.
