Good afternoon!

I have been experiencing major battery drain issues on my Macbook Pro 2019 (Catalina 10.15.1) since I received it around 2 months ago. Also the version before Catalina (Mojave 10.14.5 (18F203)) had exactly the same issues for me.

The battery just drains extremely quickly, maybe having 2-3 hours of normal use. Moreover, from 100% battery in the evening, I close the lid, and in the morning the battery is at 0%.

One thing I noticed is that the kernel_task disk usage is 2.04 TB after around 1 week of usage, while on another Mac is around 7-10 GB after 1 week of usage. There are no processes that are consuming memory, CPU or battery in the Activity Monitor. What could be the issue?

I attached a log file with all wake up reasons during last night. What seems to always wake the Mac up almost every minute is EC.RTC (Alarm). Google didn't really help me understand what it is or what it does.

Some logs during the night:

I have the same issue on my 2016 MacBook Pro. It was fully loaded when I put it in my bag this morning. Now when I opened it up 5h later it is at 37 % battery. Something is draining it even while its "sleeping".

Same here. I think they've improved it somewhere in the 10.15.2 beta, I've noticed much less draining in there.

what is your current update regarding this issue? is there any way to fix it?
because I just upgrade my macbook air 11" 2015 OS to catalina 10.15., and experience same issue, which is battery drain quickly than usual, except when close the lid. My mac also hotter than usual.

Hi, I had the same issue in my 13" MBP 2015 with Catalina and after some research I came to the conclusion that "find my mac" feature was the problem. As per apple website the new find my mac feature in Catalina allows the OS to periodically check (via BT and wifi) for nearby devices in order to pin point the location of your mac in case you lose it and even if it is not connected to the internet.
Just try to disable this feature and also enable "do not disturb when display is asleep" under notifications options and check whether there is any improvement.
