Well I'm thinking about getting a 15" MBP and want to get the 200 gig hard drive but is there any difference in performance between that one and the 160. I know the speed is different but does it really make a difference?

thanks
Jonathan

apparently its about 20% faster, which may be noticeable. I haven't noticed that my 1.83 GHz MacBook (5400 RPM HDD) is any slower than my parent's 1.83 GHz MBP (7200 RPM HDD)

What do you plan to be doing with it?

IMO these MBP's are fast. Hell C2D processor and 2 gigs mem in dual channel its my fastest computer. But if you drop in that 4200rpm drive it's gonna turn the thing into a slug.

How?

Read and write times, cache are so much more important than RPM.

i've seen one test on this drive and while in most ways it was a bit slower than the 7200 and 5400 drives, once there was about 75gig of info on the disk, there was virtually no difference in speed between it and the other drives. so based on that, i would guess at first it might be a little slower, but after you start to fill it up a little, it will me comparable and maybe a little faster.
