A couple of weeks ago I was trying to research some game reviews over EDGE and getting frustrated with how horribly slow it was. Of course, what makes most pages slow to download over EDGE is all the graphics. Some mobile browsers (like Opera) have an option to turn off images, but Mobile Safari on the iPhone doesn't let you do this.
Then I realized that Google.com has the option to let you view cached search results, and that you can then select to view them as 'text only'. So I figured I could make a little app that links directly to the text-only versions, using Google's Ajax Search API.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, this is what I came up with: http://gfaster.com. Let me know if you find it useful when browsing over EDGE. Obviously the pages aren't very pretty, but sometimes all you need is the raw information, and this should let you get at it a lot quicker.
