Fastest way to get a 16gb Ipad?

I want to surprise my uncle with a 16gb Ipad so he can take it on vacation, June 3rd.

I placed an order on store.apple.com. They estimate 7-10 days to begin shipment. I will upgrade to overnight shipping if need be.

I have also been put on a waiting list at The Apple Store and Best Buy.

Have I exhausted all my options? What are my chances of getting one before June 3rd? I'm located in Northern California.

From the day I ordered from the Apple Store to delivery was 14 days, April 28th to May 12th. I don't think Overnight Shipping will significantly reduce this.

I think you have covered all the major sources. Adding express shipment will not help you since right now all iPads seem to be coming direct from China. The express option is for delivery from a US warehouse.

Given your time frame I think you have a fair shot, though it might be close. I would monitor the online BB inventory checker -- don't assume they'll call when they get stock. A call around 3pm might be helpful too. Might.

Check university computer shops. Mine sells Apple products and has several in stock.

Amazon wont sell them till Apple stops their exclusive agreement with Best Buy. expect that in a couple months but not now.

I ordered my 16GB wifi on the 14th of May expected delivery is June 3rd.

I ordered a 16g wifi from macmall 2d ago and it ships today. Don't know their current stock but you might try them.

FWIW, here's my experience with purchasing my iPad 3G 16GB.

Reserve ordered at my local Apple Store (western Mass.) on Tuesday, May 4th. I was notified by email that the unit was in on Monday, May 17th. I picked it up that day. Approximately 14 days total.

Thank you all so much, esspecially chupa chupa for the best buy tip.

I used the online inventory checker, while not always accurate, helped a lot still.

I was able to find a Bestbuy 20 miles away with a 16gb ipad. Dublin store had about 6 left.

my uncle will be very pleased.

Keep a check on the Best Buy's website. Two Best Buy's in Birmingham, AL near me have 16 WiFi's as well as 64 3G's in stock right now, but neither might have one tomorrow. I realize it'e a long way from N Cali. but the BB's here get them in a couple of times a week & I've found the website accurate as to their store stock.
