Oh man, iCloud is having issues. Out of the blue, my Apple ID (@me.com) stopped taking my password in iTunes and on the app store on my iPhone/iPad.

I tried to log into appleid.apple.com to manage my account, and upon entering my ID and PW, I got "Fatal internal error occurred".

I started a support chat with MobileMe support and they said try again in 5 hours.

Then I started Googling the issue and it seems like people have been having similar problems for 5 WEEKS. Most anecdotes indicate Apple has no idea what the problem is or how to fix it.

Anyone figured out a solution?

same here

For a company with 80B cash sitting around apple sure does have a problem hiring competent engineers and managing their datacenter operations. Maybe it's time to spend 3-4B and buy Level 3 or someone else who is capable?

what makes me mad is that before I realized it was an outage, I reset my password, thinking that would fix it. my old password was not very secure, but so what? it was fast to type on the iPhone. Resetting required me to change to an 8 character password with one capital letter and a number. so annoying.

and I'm a little nervous too because my email is currently working and my calendar/address book are syncing, but those are tied to my old password. so I technically have 2 passwords now floating around.

iphone not accepting my apple id password

I am now having a similar problem. I have a iphone 4 with ios 5.01. I tried to update a few apps tonight and my pass would not work. I tried on the myappleid page and receive teh "a fatal error has occurred" message. Anyone know how to rectify this or how long it takes to fix itself? Thanks.

I am having the very same issue now too. I was able to update an App on my phone about three hours ago without a problem. But I just tried to purchase an App about 10 minutes ago on my iPad but got a message saying my Apple ID could not be found or my password was wrong. I then tried logging in to the iTunes store on my PC but got a similar message. Tried the Forgot Password button. When I entered my Apple ID on that new web page I got the "a fatal error has occurred" message.
