Faulty Battery?

Hi all,
I picked up my new Macbook Pro on Saturday November 11th. I've been very pleased with the overall system (low heat, very quick, etc), however, I've noticed through both the system profiler and coconut battery that the battery capacity seems to be dropping like a rock per charge cycle.

So far it's been through 10 charge cycles and the remaining capacity is shown to be: 5236 (95.2% of original capacity). Is this normal or will I be having to contact the apple store to get a replacement battery soon (when it drops below 80%?)?

I am having the same problem.. I am at 43 charge cycles and my battery health is at 39%

Yes, did when i first got it then did last night (saw a 2% drop in capacity after that)

I calibrated mine yesterday and fully charged today it had a 1 hour battery life

I took it to the apple store yesterday (before calibrating it) and while wating for the mac genius to help me, the battery went from 45 minutes remaining to about an hour and a half.. what gives?

I stat pro currently states my battery health is at 37% but yesterday it ranged from 39% to 54% to even 95% (conveniently while I was at the mac store)

All laptop batteries tend to do that, it doesn't necessarily mean your battery is dying. The discrepency varies from battery to battery, the software only shows an estimation of the real capacity.

okay, I can almost accept that.. except that it just did it again.. said that it had about an hour left, then when it got down to around 20 minutes, switched and said it had two hours left. So I'm sitting here using the internet, the counter says it has about an hour and a half left, and the computer just turns itself off (sleeps) with no warning. When it starts back up, it says that battery is at 0%

wtf? This is getting REALLY annoying.

Certainly sounds like a bad battery to me. Now you just have to convince Apple of that.

It's my second macbook pro and my batt seems ad too.
On the first i was about at 5650Mah/5500 so about 101% whereas after 4 cycles the bat is at 98% on the new one.
I noticed that sometimes the mac has a kernel panic after booting after sleep when the battery comes too low.
I noticed that my mac never use safe sleep like the first one.
I think my batt is defective but i will wait to be sure.

Well, I'm gonna guess you missed the sarcasm as noted by the and in my post.

But in any case, I never said everyone should, but I was curious about my battery situation and you managed to take over the whole thing, again, not a big deal, learn how to handle sarcasm.

uh.. hello.. #1 you wouldn't have mentioned it (complete with un-funny sarcasm) if it weren't partly true. Adding a few cheery emoticons to the end of your post doesn't cover the fact that you were obviously pissed that I "hijacked" your thread. Newsflash: hijacking a thread isn't when another person comes in and starts talking about the same topic that OP posted about. Hijacking is when one or more people come in and completely change the subject and turn the entire discussion around, completely ignoring the OP.

#2 you proved that by bringing it up AGAIN after explaining that your post was supposedly a joke.

We were having the same issue, I really don't see the problem with us both talking about this same issue in the same thread. You just sound like some anal person who can't handle other people doing anything but speaking directly to you in "your thread"

This is a discussion board, you know. The topic of "your" thread was "faulty battery?" not "my faulty battery and only my faulty battery". At most forums, I'd have gotten flamed if I started a new topic on the subject when there was already one running.
