Hey All,

I just purchased a new hard drive yesterday, and was looking forward to a clean start with Lion. However, it's now sounding like there isn't a clean install option, and that it simply installs on top of SL.

Unfortunately, I don't have my original SL install disk around... I do have a large external that I can time machine to and from.

Any ideas or strategies for getting something close to a clean install without having the SL disk?

I could do a clean install on one of my partitions via booting from the Lion installer cloned to an external HDD.
You could do the same, but maybe just with a USB flash memory thumb drive.

copy the Lion installer on to a CD or a USB drive, or install Lion and boot from the restore partition. This is covered in many threads.

You can do a clean install of Lion on an empty hard drive. No need to dig for your SL disc :D
