Hi all,

First time iPhone user, so I'm not familiar with the 1st gen iPhone, but I've noticed an odd quirk with my phone. When I get a call and answer, after hanging up and unlocking it, the Favorites screen shows up. I usually quit to the home screen before locking my phone, so one would logically assume that the home screen is what would show up when you unlock it. This only happens after I hang up from an incoming call. So, is this normal for the iPhone (ie, am I just being paranoid) or is this a bug specific to mine?

It seems that the iPhone opens up the Phone App (for lack of a better word) when you answer an incoming call. And if the phone was locked before you pick up, it locks automatically after you hang up without closing the Phone App first. So depending on what part of the Phone App you had open last (Favorites, Contacts, Keypad etc), that will be what shows up next time you unlock the phone.

I've noticed once it didn't open straight into the Phone App after getting an incoming call. I think I pressed the home button immediately after I hung up (so somehow it registered it before it locked itself) so that when I unlocked it afterwards, it was the Home screen. I'll have to try and recreate it, but it just might be something we need to get used to. It's not an issue much for me anymore as I've gotten into the habit of unlocking, exiting to Home screen, then locking after getting a call now.

I've tested and confirmed this. If you press the home button immediately after you hang up from an incoming call, the home screen -- not the Phone App -- displays when the iPhone is unlocked.

Just a quick fyi: if you're using the home button to hang up, double tapping home takes you to favorites by default. You can change this setting in Settings, go figure.

As am I, but like I said, if you press the "End Call" button and immediately press the home button, the iPhone quits the Phone App before it locks itself. And the next time you unlock it, you'll be at the Home Screen.

BTW - the home button doesn't end the call for me. It actually brings up the home screen during a call while keeping the call active. And I'm aware of the double tap to favorites thing. I figured out that this was the reason why my favorites always showed up (I had a habit of accidentally double tapping home when I first got my iPhone). But as I stated after I'd figured it out, it's just the last section of the Phone App that was open that will show up after the iPhone is unlocked.
