Favourite shoppping apps? + Question

Hey guys first up I have a question.

Do you guys/gals know of any shopping/groceries apps that has a large number of preset items and big customisation such as Pick&Choose-Groceries but also lets you add item pricing + on the go total price of all your groceries?

If so, what are your favourite shopping apps that have this sort of functionality?

Grocery Gadget is a new application that has a large database of items included with it. It was free at first, but not anymore. I haven't used it much, so I don't know whether it has the ability to total, etc.

I use SplashShopper and am happy with it. I came with sample lists that included many items, but I have since entered my own and can't remember how extensive those original lists were. It has the features you seek. There is also a desktop application that pairs with it, but there is a another significant charge for that. There is an extensive manual at the SplashData web site that anyone can download. You might have a look at that to see whether it meets your exact needs. Better to do that than spend $9.95 US for it and then no like it.

As the developer of Shopping List that comes EMPTY, may I ask why you prefer to have a large built-in database of items ?

Personally I think that it's better if you add the item as you need them. The app will be faster, you'll find your items quickly because you'll have less of them, you are sure to call things the way you like it.

These are my opinions, of course, but I'm interested in yours since it seems that there are many users that like you want the large built-in database.

I tend to agree with the minimalist approach. iNeedStuff has about 110ish built in items but based on lots of feedback most people build their lists based on their own needs. As a matter of fact we've had numerous requests to create a "one touch delete" for the master list so people could do their own. Based on taking a look at our server (since we support syncing with the web), of the over 2000 users we have only a handful kept the master list fully intact.

I like Pick&Choose because I can just go through and find things that I may not remember and it's far easier to select things that are already included than typing in things that are not already there. I think Pick&Choose is the best shopping app for this reason.

You may want to reconsider making a second app that has all of this included plus the option to have prices entered if the person wishes.

Hi, I'm Brian Rice the developer of Pick&Choose.

I can see an argument for both sides of this issue. We considered which approach was better, and decided to go with the database. But, we reallized early on that if we were going to do a database we had to do a DATABASE. I think some of the programs that have a small database set the expectation that an item might be in there, but then it's not... so, our approach was to get everything we could think of in there and it seems people like it a lot.

Prices have been a big request, so I'm sure that we'll add that in a future update.

It's been interesting to see the different approaches we have all made to a "Grocery List".
