Hi
I am new to the imac and notice there is no data/fax modem. I do scan documents and fax to recipients at times and have done seamlessly with my pc. Now it is time to move on and get on track with the imac. I have already had to replace my samsung scx 4100 multifunction, a loyal and robust item, mac dont support it. I have a scx 4500 coming soon. Surely in this day and age there must be some way of sending a fax from a computer that cost nearly £2000. I have seen usb fax dongles for sale on ebay and other normal 56k external usb modems.....but what is the cost effective way forward

Some good ideas

Hi I checked out the links you kindly provided. I am trying to steer clear of 3rd party vendors owing to some privacy and discretion matters. It seems very odd that this is beyond the scope of Apple to provide some software that will interface with a normal usb modem made by a reputable company. I understand some of the software security issues but the fax software has been available on Windows since year dot. Are Apple somewhat backward or is there a terribly good reason that a simple fax cannot be sent and one received.
I am hoping someone has a simple solution
