Same thing happened to me, my laptop is fine and that happened to me months ago. You could clear cache, history, and cookies to be safe.

Don't worry, it's not a virus. It just overloads the resources of your browser, and after you clear it you are fine.

Ok, thanks. I read on Windows it can cause issues?

I didn't know if I needed to do anything else additionally or if clearing everything in Chrome was good enough.

As dyt said, it just overloads the browser's resources. On mine overtime I tried closing it a message kept making it stay open, so unless it uses malware or such, we should be fine.

It's just a browser attack, as others have stated. It's not a virus. Macs are not immune to malware, but no true viruses exist in the wild that can run on Mac OS X, and there never have been any since it was released over 12 years ago. The only malware in the wild that can affect Mac OS X is a handful of trojans, which can be easily avoided by practicing safe computing (see below). 3rd party antivirus apps are not necessary to keep a Mac malware-free, as long as a user practices safe computing, as described in the following link.

Last year, my brother told me that chrome under Windows got hung this way. He was looking at some torrent site or whatever. He kept clicking close for what he said seemed like an eternity before it gave up.

I asked for the link because I was curious if non-Windows devices can get hung.

I tried it on my iPad, using Safari, then Chrome. Some "FBI" screen came up both times, so I closed it, both times, and that was it. Evidently it dies on the iPad.

I opened up a Linux VM, and tried the link using Firefox under Linux. The same sort of "FBI" screen appeared, but I could not close Firefox no matter what I tried. So I just closed the Linux session, then restarted it. I re-opened Firefox and the page did not re-appear.

I will not try it on my MacBook.
