In the shadow of the Space Needle.
Just checked http://www.dvexpo.com yesterday and they list last minute keynote speaker as none other than Apple VP Phil Schiller. http://www.Macnn.com posted a little more info:

"Phil Schiller, Apple's VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, will give a keynote presentation at DV Expo on Tuesday, December 4th from 2:00-3:00PM, where he will "discuss Apple's leadership position in the digital video revolution and showcase the growing number of professional video solutions available on Mac OS X.""

Uh, right now there aren't any professional video solutions for OSX, iMovie doesn't qualify as professional, so FCP for OSX finally? Hmmm, maybe something more than FCP as well?

I can't remeber where I saw it but there was a rumour that he was going to announce or release FCP for X, 2 DVD pro 2 and "sometihng else that should shake up the digital video community".

I am on the edge of my seat.....

please please don't just preview FCP and say it will be out sometime next year :(

I made the mistake of not upgrading from FCP1.2.4 to FCP2 when it first came out and one of my machines can't run in X or OS9.2 because of quicktime 5. I was holding out for FCP X... and I have only frustrated myself for too long.

Apple bought Astarte and it became DvD Studio Pro, this summer they bought Spruce and since then Spruce has all but stopped making NT DVD stations. If I had to guess I'd say that Apple has gotten Spruce to make them a new hardware based real time MPEG encoder.
Or.... Promax canned their RT card that was going to compete with Matrox saying that in the near future it wouldn't be neccessary. Maybe the wishful thinking/rumors about FCPX being close to real time with autorenders is true?
