Hey guys,

Hope to find here some help.

Does anyone here use their 13" MBP TB 2016/2017 for video editing in FCPX?

How is your experience?

Background:
Never had a mac. Very interesting in buying one to start doing some YouTube videos (or called video essays). I probably dont need portability as I'll do it in my desk at home.

Can't decide what to buy:
2017 13" MBP i5 3.1, 16, 512. + 2K 24"/27" monitor,
or
2017 21,5 iMac i5 3.4, 16, 512, Radeon pro 560 4G. + iPad 10,5

Problems:
1- I think iMac looks dated with those big bezels, and can't stand looking at it with all the 2017 monitors being so slim. But it runs smoothly.
2- Dont know if the 13" can stand FCPX and editing/rendering some vídeos very well. But with monitor looks super sexy.
3- Help! Those combos will cost the same.

Thank you guys!

If you don’t need portability go with the iMac + iPad combo. You will enjoy more both in terms of performance, screen tech (4k) and true portability (iPad).

My 2013 MacBook Pro handles FCP-X completely fine, so I can't imagine the new models don't. Biggest editing bottleneck can be how fast your media drive is. The portability of the computer will probably outweigh the benefits of the iPad.

The 21.5" iMac's are good, but not as solid as the 27" models.
