So I recently bought an Apple Watch Series 8 after long hauling my Series 3 for almost 5 years and I must say, im kind of mixed on the always on display. I think the aesthetic is cool to bystanders, as it makes the Apple Watch look more like a real watch when other people look at you, but practicality wise, I dont see much use for it myself. I dont feel its much better than just raising my wrist to wake the watch like with my old Series 3, and I also feel the battery life takes too much of a hit when in use, so I chose not to use the always on display in most situations. However, for those situations where it would be nice to have the always on display for asthetical purposes, I feel than Apple should add an option to control centre for those who want to turn the always on feature on and off without always having to dig into settings. While there are already low power and theatre modes that do this already in control centre, there are tradeoffs. Low power mode disables the heart and blood oxygen sensors, so you dont your heart rare nor blood oxygen measurements nor do you get notifications for irregular heart rhythms nor high/low heart rates. Meanwhile theatre mode disables to wake the display by raising your wrist, thus making it impossible to check the watch face when your dominant hand is full. Thus, an independent toggle for the always on display in conrol centre would be nice. It would also be nice to have other options for toggling the always on display, such as having it set based on location (you could have the display off when at home but always on when leaving home), with a focus (sleep focus already disables the always on display but would be nice for other focus modes to have the feature as well) or even possibly a complication (would be a bit wasteful but there are other complications that are noting more than static app icons so why not).
