i was sitting here playing around on my iPhone Xs Max and all of a sudden remembered how angry i was when iPhone X came out and we were no longer able to see battery percentage in the icon. i was fuming.
I've just now realized that I haven't thought about it in 6-8 months probably.

How many other features that were changed or removed that I loved haven't i thought about?

what are some that you can remember being upset with but have gotten use to or completely forgotten about?

one thing that never bothered me was removing the 3.5 audio jack. i never cared for Bluetooth up until a couple years ago because of its impact on battery life but it's much better these days.
and as far as cars and aux cables go... if you're using a phone as advanced as iPhone 7... you probably should just go ahead and get Bluetooth installed in your car so anyone can connect to it. not even expensive to do so

i wont say that there are things that i couldnt live without but apple dongles truely irks me.

1) lightning earphones - the new macbook pro still uses the 3.5mm audio jack

2) usb charging cables - the new macbook pro only have thunderbolt ports

why? just why? im sure if Jobs is still around, this wont have happened.

There’s really nothing that has bothered me about the X or XS Max.

Face ID works like a charm. The notch isn’t even noticeable while you’re actively using the phone.

I’m glad that I’m part of the group of people that hasn’t had any issues and can use this new tech without a hitch.

Home button (with Touch ID) the only thing I really thought I could not give up.. I kinda boycotted the X last year just cause I wouldn't let Apple pry the Home button from my hands.

Now I have the XS Max. Outside the random "home button" presses I find myself doing... I honestly don't miss it. Face ID works. This winter when i'm wearing gloves outside.. it's going to come in handy.

As for the 3.5mm headphone jack.. I was SUPER pissed when Apple removed it. For a few days.. When I tried to defend the use of the headphone jack, and realized I have a single set of headphones that are wired... I switched the Bluetooth long ago. Now I have the Airpods (another thing I said i'd never buy...) and can't see myself going to any other bluetooth really. Except Airpods 2.
99% of the time i have them in my ear for music (can only have 1 ear "blocked" while at work, or driving-State law) so I set them both up as doubletap to play/pause. Works perfect.

I thought I would miss TouchID but honestly, FaceID is just better.

I do miss the headphone jack and don't care for having to use dongles just to connect the phone to a Macbook Pro.

the standard lightning to usb cable is a dongle? or lightning to usb-c.. Why would you need a headphone jack to connect to your MBP? curious.

Two separate things. Connecting with USB to MBP requires a USB-C to Lightning cable or an adapter dongle. Or having to use a USB-A hub in between. In any case, not exactly seamless and you have to buy extra things just to do this.

I wonder what would happen if I use the USBC to lightning cable I now use to charge my iPhone with (with MacBook pro as the source) and just plug that usbc/lightning cable directly into the brick that came with the MacBook pro.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something similar but probably a smaller brick for a faster charge.

I think somewhere they list all the "fast charge" capable bricks you can use the lightning to usb-c cable with.. I think it's all the way up to a 87w one? I know the 30w one is the main one people buy to fast charge the iPhones.

You would get fast charging this way. Apple could totally have included a smaller fast charger in the box but decided to be cheapskates instead.

I don’t miss the headphone jack. However, I do miss Touch ID. I’d like both TBH. When I’m at work, I’m wearing a surgical mask for significant parts of the day. I know many in Asia wear masks too for hygiene too. How do they do it?

Hmmm that might be the next thing I do...though it’s kind of ridiculous apple doesn’t include it.

Currently using iPad brick for iPhone. Both at work and home. With the MacBook Pro it’s faster...so I end up using that.

I wonder if I can get any from old buddies..
