Feedback App: "3rd party app". Purpose?

It's to give feedback for iOS bugs, not for 3rd party apps.

So....why is there an option in the Feedback app to report issues with 3rd party apps? Surely if it wasn't wanted they wouldn't provide the option?

I assume it's for developers who have iOS SDK related bugs/feedback in their own 3rd party apps.
One example is the change in navigation bar colering since iOS 10.
Apple wishes feedback for that change in the release notes of the betas.

Or a way to stop well-meaning testers reporting third party problems under an Apple category and confusing bug-fixing efforts. (A cynic might call it an equivalent of /dev/null)

And here's me hoping (in vain I know) that Apple might actually want to know if their changing code breaks simple operations (audio playback etc) in 3rd party apps or makes them crash out for no apparent reason at launch.

Well, I could imagine that a showstopping error in, say, Facebook or Spotify or WhatsApp or Pokemon might be of interest to Facebook, because they don't want the release date of a new iOS version swamped with complaints about people's favourite apps not working. So maybe if they get a lot of reports of errors with hugely popular third party apps they get in touch with the developers - but I doubt they do it for all reports.
