Hello!

I've just installed the public Yosemite Beta and I was wondering what the proper use for the feedback assistent was. Are you only allowed to report bugs/problems or can you also send in personal opinions?

As an example:
I think the trash can doesn't look to great (a bit to one dimensional and bleached), can I report that?

My gut says I shouldn't but I just wanted to ask here. It is a public beta after all, so stuff like that also matters right?

I hope you guys can help me! :)

I have wondered the same thing and have therefore not left any feedback yet.
Interested to hear peoples thoughts.

FA has 3 types of reports (at least Apple Seed). Enhancement Request (ER) is the type of report you would file for your example.

Also instead of being critical you should offer a suggestion for change to the way you would like it. The old catch more flies with sugar than vinegar. ;)

I was wondering the same thing. I wanted to leave feedback on some of the design aesthetics.

For example, the use of transparent sidebars is inconsistent throughout the OS. Almost all of the basic apps found on the default dock use transparent sidebars except for Mail and Notes. Why?

Speaking of mail, why is the color of the app icon still blue on OS X and green on iOS? I would have expected them to use the same color by now.

And to comment on the new trash can, I'm actually quite fond of it lol :)

Anyway now I know to give the enhancement request a try and suggest these. Thanks to the above poster for pointing this out.

Great, thank you! :) I was planning on making a few suggestions on it, so I'll definitely do that :p

I agree, don't come of I hate this or that, but rather provide an alternative and why that alternative would be better.

While the OS X icon looks more outdated they both look blue to me. What is it you are seeing?

Oops, sorry I meant the Messages app. It's green on iOS but blue on OS X. Drives the OCD in me!

Everything else looks pretty consistent between both OSes though.

But as for the mail icon, I agree it does look dated. I wish Apple had went with the iOS version and ditched the stamp and eagle.

I have been using it strictly for the bugs that I have encountered so far. I wasn't sure on how to comment on the design and aesthetics, thought I have really enjoyed it so far, I figured that it will evolve over time. Right now, for me, it is just focusing on reporting bugs so that it is nearly perfect when it comes out.

Mail and Notes both have translucent side bars... Mail, you have to have Mailboxes toggled on and with Notes you have to go view>show folders list. With the notes app, the notes list should be translucent like what happens with the contacts app when you hide or unhide the folders list but it doesn't do it... might be a glitch.

Speaking of Enhancement Requests, I can't seem to file one. The option for one in the file menu is grayed out, and the only option is to create a new problem report.

Thank you for pointing that out! I seriously missed both of those. Actually, a little odd to see two sidebars, but now it at least makes it consistent across Yosemite. :)
