Feedback on a Website?

I'm having my first go at launching what will be a business that specialises in web design, graphic design and photography. The first impressions of a business' website that does web design is obviously very important, so I'd like some feedback to see what you guys think. Obviously it's just a landing page at the moment but it shows off what sort of style I'm going for.

I think it looks nice.

It's clean and not fussy looking, and the count down will draw interest from whoever visits the site before it launches.

The only thing that looks a bit odd to me is the "." after "Coming Soon".
There isn't any other punctuation on the site, so it looks a little odd to my eye.

Looks like you have a good eye for detail!

There's not a lot to comment on at the moment, just a grey background with a smattering of text.

As for the background - I would avoid using a fine dot matrix instead of a solid grey. Depending on the resolution and quality of the user's screen, this can cause eyestrain by creating a moiré effect and spoil the rendering of the text - this is particularly noticeable on fine text like the word 'boxhall'.

If you're serious about receiving constructive comments rather than just a pat on the back, I would suggest waiting until you've put a bit more effort into the project before you ask for people to give their time assessing your work.

I'm not trolling here. I'm doing an honest assessment so please don't take umbrage if it's not what you were hoping to hear.

Use the actual play button for YouTube, and not just a generic play symbol. You're promoting your presence on a service, and not a function. Probably want to do the red part in the white and make the play button in the middle transparent.

I agree with Parkin on the text. You need to use a thicker variant of the font at least. You need to maybe play with some kerning too. The letters are too close together.

Ditch the period on "Coming soon" and play around with the spacing on that too. Nothing major, just a few pixels apart would work better.

It's a nice looking template. Whoever made it probably sells a full site thats similar if you want to keep that look.

Remember sites today will mostly be viewed on mobile devices, so plan accordingly.

For one, FLASH elements are OUT!

Image swaps during a hover will not work.

Ain't Web design great these days.

While I hate dreamweaver with a passion, you can design for the big three formats at the same time which are Computers(Desktops), Pads and phones
