Hi everyone!
My name is Long and I work as an Illustrator and Editor at Volvo Construction Equipment in Sweden.
Since the App Store first ever launched in 2008 I've always dreamed about creating my own app, but with the lack of programming skills and motivation to learn Objective C and Xcode, I had to put my dream aside.. until now!
Yesterday I just got my very first iPhone app approved! The app is called Flappy Long, and it's a game inspired by the Flappy Bird game that you either love or hate. Personally I hated the game at the beginning, and couldn't possibly understand what the hype was all about. But after some time I gave it another try and now I'm hooked, haha.
So I decided to create my own Flappy Bird type of game, but I wanted to add some originality to it - It's never fun to just create a clone version! Instead of following a predestined path (set by the tunnels), my version adds Rubik's cubes running at different speeds, and a dangerous character called Sizo (based on my colleague at work
). The objective of the game is to save as many girls as possible and avoid crashing into the Rubik's cubes, the ground, top of the sky or Sizo.
I'm really a newbie when it comes to app developing, and been only developing for about 3 weeks. 4 weeks ago I didn't know anything about Objective C or how to create an app for that matter, and been only learning through tutorials on Youtube. The app was done in Xcode 6 and I used Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and the app FaceQ to create all the graphics.
The purpose of this thread is mainly to get feedback on my app so I can improve on it further, and to promote it!
My app is available on App Store for free! Click on this link to download: https://appsto.re/se/bQwG3.i
What do you guys think? (Please be gentle!
)
Currently one are awarded different amount of points depending on what iPhone screen size you are on, and the game speed seems to be slightly faster on the smaller screen sized iPhones as well. I'll try to fix this for the next update!
Cheers!
