Hi Ed

I've had problems with X-Com Enemy Unknown not running because the of the 4GB memory in the 780M Card in the new iMac's.

As I understand it, it doesn't pass the compatibility check and so simply errors out stating the iMac is unable to run the game. I called your helpline a little while ago to be told it's a known issue and is in line to be patched to add compatibility for a 4GB card, but it's still not working (Steam version). I'm also interested in trying out your Total War Series, but am hanging back on any purchase as I'm not confident that the problem with X-Com won't be replicated over your other titles.

Can you give a heads up on when you expect a fix to be in place to allow folks with a 780M to play X-Com and whether any other of your titles are impacted and when a fix will be out for them.

Many thanks Ed.

32-bit integers and incorrect assumptions about the upper-bound of resource sizes strike again!

Seems the answers got lost in the forum crash. Here is a summary.

Basically it only happens in Mavericks due to how Apple altered reporting 4GB limits. This has already been fixed for Steam users with a fix for AppStore coming soon.

Empire and Napoleon are also effected but also will be patched to fix this problem for Mavericks users.
