At the moment I have the Iphone Gen 1. I am debating on buying the 3G one, but i don't know if it is really worth it. Is it worth getting the 3G iphone?

And if i got the phone, could i just transfer the sim card from my iphone now to that iphone, and have all the features work?

Thanks.

It all depends on the individual, but if you already have a first gen I would wait until an upgrade. 3g and GPS is nice, but for me it's not necessary (especially for $10 a month more expensive without the text messages).

You will be able to keep your sim card or they can at least transfer the info.

If there is going to be a new iPhone this year, which historically there is a new one each year, it will be announced May through June. Tim Cook has said that May starts the iPhone cycle and August ends it, so the time to buy one just to buy one is from the release to about January. If you absolutely need one, like your screen cracked or your old one broke and you can't live without an iPhone, then I guess you'll have to buy one no matter what. But if you can hold off until June and July and maybe August, then do so.

As for the SIM card question, like Davyreins said, you can use your iPhone 2G's SIM card in the iPhone 3G because both SIM cards are 3G.
