At my desk
Right, I've currently had my iMac for at least half a year now (I think it was August last year i bought it) and I've been throughly happy with it until now.

I've noticed something that resembles screen burn at the top left corner of my screen (it's like a gray and black Aurora effect) and I've also noticed that the colour tone (correct me if I'm wrong) when viewing a gray screen seems wrong towards the right of the screen, almost like water splashed on paper.

Secondly, I'm having problems trying to run Windows, I've started another thread where it's properly due named "Crashed Screen when booting any DVD Disc except Mac OS X" in the Windows on Mac category.

So my questions are:

1. Should I take my iMac in for Repair? As there is both screen burn and problems installing other OS's

2. If so, would it be a good enough problem for repair? It's still under warranty

3. If not, is there anything i can do to fix the screen problem? As i said the other problem is in a different post, might get an answer there

Thank you for your time.

NOTE: The pictures were taken while the screen is off, iMac turned off so the burn could be seen better.

i had a similar situation with my original Al iMac from 2007, some sort of moisture behind the glass, i took it to an apple store and they replaced the entire panel under warranty, no questions asked, with parts and labor, it would have cost more than 1000 dollars.....

agreed I made the bad mistake of not taking Applecare on my first powerbook many years ago and 2 months out of warranty it bit me in the ar** never again. I always take it out now and it has paid of well. Take it in they will repair it.

Thank you for all your comments.

I'll be sure to take in my iMac now, i might even take out an Applecare Protection Plan rather than leaving this under limited warranty.

By the way, if i take this in an Apple store for a genius appointment, do they plug it in there and take a look or just take the iMac without looking first?

They have always took a look on the spot.

Got it all sorted.

Took my iMac in for repair but the Apple Genius (or staff, not sure) told me he could probably try cleaning it by taking off the glass panel. Sure he did and apparently it was dust gathered behind the display which caused the Aurora effect.

I know now how to clean it if this problem ever occurs again, thank you everyone for taking interest in this Post.
