Few questions about my new PB

I brought home my new 12" PB yesterday (or rather, my dad did) and I am LOVING it. I can't wait until I get my 20" Cinema to go with it!

I have a couple of questions (more probably to be added later haha; I haven't really had a chance to play with it since I've had relatives over).

Is a buzzing sound normal when the PB comes out of sleep or starts up? I think it's the HD; a fairly loud buzz, very quick, when it wakes up.

Is there a way to turn off the BT keyboard/mouse without having to repair with the PB each time I come back? I want to conserve batteries, but it is a pain to have to BT repair each time I turn them back on.

Can I use the $100 rebate on two separate purchases? I am going to send in the rebate for the computer and then later on (before June 25) I plan on buying a 20" Cinema display. Can I send one in for that, too?

I know you have to actually quit a program to exit, not just hit the red x, but on Safari, if I hit the x on a browser window, will it close that particular window or do I actually have to hit "File > Close Window"?

Yes, the odd sound after you wake up the PB is normal. I'm not sure about the BT question and the rebates. In regards to the rebates, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to purchase two products, as long as it's within the rules of the student discount. (1 computer hardware purchase per school year, etc.)

Ok, nice to know about the buzzing. Just wanted to make sure before I found out it was fatal and too late to do anything about it.

I have another question. I want to transfer my iTunes library from my PC to the Mac. I've created a wireless network between the computers and am sharing all my other files into a SHAREDDOC folder in Finder. Then, I'm putting everything into one big folder on the desktop (everything is already organized into subfolders, etc.). I can get the iTunes library onto the Mac and the songs play, but I can't figure out how to transfer the entire libary directly into iTunes so they'll show up in the library. Do I need to delete the empty iTunes folder on the Mac and replace it with the PC one? I didn't want to try it because I heard you shouldnt be deleting folders if you don't know what you're doing on a Mac.

you can delete the empty itunes folder. it will just get replaced automatically. you should be able to transfer the entire library. if not over the network, then try one of the ipod to computer programs. search versiontracker for those. the buzz is normal. if you want to quit a program out right just hit the apple key and q. im not too sure about your rebate situation , oh yea and for the mouse and keyboard, set them as favorites in system pref under the BT tab, then set the littleo option to have a BT icon appear on the top menu on your desktop then turn the mouse and board on and then turn on BT and they should automatically come up and connect

Just to clarify, when the powerbook starts up, it's normal to hear a quick mechanical arm noise (think Robocop). When I hear the term buzzing I think more like an electrical noise (think broken tv), which would be an abnornal noise and one which you should definitely get checked out immediately.

Now I have a problem though!! My PC keeps shutting down while networked (I think it's overheating, because it's fine now) but my Mac isn't! Finder got stuck on the beachball for several minutes on the SHAREDDOCS and Copy applications. So, I tried doing a Force Quit using the instructions and it said Finder wasn't responding; however, there was no quit option, only "Relaunch." I tried that and it didn't work. It won't reboot either! I tried Relaunch again and the finder bar disappeared from the top except for a dark brown patch of it in the corner (faded) and the Macintosh HD and desktop folders disappeared. I still have Finder, Copy, SHAREDDOCS minimized and I can't open them or quit them. And it won't reboot.

What do I do????!

The noise is normal when waking the computer from sleep. You have to hit quit on any application you want to quit from, otherwise it will remain running in the background. The fastest way to close apps is by hitting the Apple button + Q.

Hold down the Power button for 5-10 seconds until it restarts. This is called a hard reset.

Sometimes Apple doesn't make these sorts of things very clear. I guess reading the manual helps. But once you understand them, it's easy to see how Apple likes to simply things and make things pretty.
