Few Questions

So I just got my first Mac ever under the tree this Christmas morn and I had a few questions!

I have a MBP and I was curious as to if there is a way to set F9 strictly to Expose. If I press it, it works with the Backlit Keyboard. I have to press FN + F9 if I want Expose to be triggered. Anyway to change this?

Try looking under System Preferences> Dashboard & Expose
You should be able to customize it any way you want.

Still nothing. I went there and it says all I have to press is F9 but when I do, it keeps messing with backlit keyboard stuff. I just would like to have to press F9 rather than FN+F9 if there is a way.

System Preferences - > keyboard & Mouse -> Check "Use the F1-F12 keys to control software features"
