How does XBMC run on Apple TV? Is it an "app" or are you basically replacing ios?

Is there anyway to maintain certain functionalities (mainly airplay) along with XBMC?

It seems like there's no untethered jailbreak for 4.3, has this caused any headaches with anyone?

Its an app, all apple tv functions and menus are still available. It just gets added as a menu option.
