Installed the game couple of days ago, tried many type of configurations but even with the lowest settings the game is quite slow and laggy, in cities NPCs take 30-60sec to appear.

PC:

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32bit
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8400 @ 2.66GHz
4 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5400 Series 1GB

Game settings are:

"Display Mode" Full Screen
"Window Size" 1280x800
"Multisampling" No AA
"Buffer Size" Resolution
"Shadow Detail" Lowest
"Ambient Occlusion" off
"Depth of Field" off
"Texture Quality" low
"Texture Filtering" Lowest

"Character Shadows" OFF
"Dust Effects" OFF
"Extended Drawing" OFF
"Physics" OFF

Is there anything I could try to improve performance? or should I upgrade something on my pc?
thx

May I ask why you are posting a question about a game regarding a windows computer on a mac website? Turning off v sync if it is on.

Thats odd OP :/ Your system should be able to run it, unless the graphics card is the weak link. I don't follow graphics cards too much anymore but do you have something that may be using your graphics card in the background? Such as distributed computing software or something? Try running MSCONFIG, disabling ALL startup items, restarting the machine and start playing FF first before you start anything else. This may help narrow it down.

This section is called "Mac and PC Games".

Anyways, OP, FFXIV is one of the most (unnecessarily) demanding games on the market right now. It's not your computer as much as it is SE's poor optimization. They are working on it but theyve got a ways to go.

Yeah mac and pc games cause mac's run boot camp and therefore they are pc games. How many people get on here that post about their mac on windows? Ok now how many post about their pc on mac. You see now?

I think you should stop being an elitist.

OP, yeah your GPU might be the issue as that it what is taxed the most in FFXIV.
