I gotta say, its the best 5 bucks i have ever spent! the game is long but addiciting and you can always pause if you ever need to! creating new evil mazes for our lil runners to do is fun! and upgrading and watching your enemies DIE! is really fun, i cant say how much i enjoy this game,

i recommend this to anybody who loves strategys and thinking creatively and love to watch stuff blow up and get shot at!

Funny, I got bored pretty quick - there's only ONE level, no sound, and limited upgrade paths.

I guess pretty graphics are the most important thing.

Actually the lack of sound is a PLUS to me. That way I can play Fieldrunners without accidentally disturbing anyone (like when sitting on the couch with my wife watching TV). I really hate the games that blare some ridiculous startup sounds at you before you can control the app volume (separate from the ringer volume). It would be nice if they all detected that vibrate mode was on and kept quiet, but most do not.

More levels, towers, and fieldrunners are coming soon. The first update should be hitting the store this week.

In the meantime... I still find good replay value in trying to maximize the number of lives left at the end of the game, and squeezing the highest score possible.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G (16GB, 2.1 PWNed): Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

I agree that startup sounds (which cannot be muted) are annoying as hell. ;)

I realize that the update was submitted last week, but we've been waiting on an update for over a month now - in its current state, I've found the replay value somewhat limited. Just my opinion, of course.

I think the replay value is decent, it just needs the following 2 updates to make it really replayable. It's already long lasting in that there's countless ways to play and try to boost your score, they just need more of everything. I also wish there was a bigger map, but it's no biggie. Finally, sound doesn't bother me. I have so many podcasts I usually want to listen to those instead while I'm playing anyways. I've got a handful of great games, (asphalt is one of them) that I avoid mostly because I can't play my own stuff during them.

by comparison with other games, replay value on the Fieldrunners is actually good. It was challenging enough to beat the hard level and try to maximize the score. Even after beating the game I still go back to it to try different configurations and strategies to see if I can squeeze out even higher scores.

I just got it, took me three attempts on easy mode just to make it to level 100. Got to 99 twice, that wave of helicopters at the end are brutal.

Just bought the game today and I love it.

I never really played any tower defence game that much but I noticed something here. I created a few parallel paths from the entrance to the exits of basic guns. When the attackers got to the end of a path, I'd quickly block it with a cheap tower, and then they would run back all the way to take another path. This can be repeated until the wave is destroyed, and then all the way to wave 100.

The only downside is that this won't work for aircraft, but put in a few slimes + electroes and it's win.

This might be an entirely obvious or well-known (and lame) stategy but I didn't know about it.

It's known as juggling, discussed in this thread.

It's worth the price, but I think people hype it up to be more then it really is. It's a very limited TD game but the polished graphics and interface are a big plus. I played it continually for about a day and that's all I could handle.

how to beat Field Runners hard level.

After endless hours of building endless mazes to try to beat the hard level, I suddenly realized I needed to think outside the box. And it finally hit me. By blocking the Runners' path, and making them go back, I could control the game.

First, build a wall of gunners right down the middle of the field, with a T at the end to increase the length of the path.

When the runners almost reach the end, place a cheap gun in their way, make them turn around and back through the weapons.

When they reach the other side, sell the gun used to block, and insert another gun just before they reach the end.

Keep doing this while buying and upgrading the electric towers. Make sure you put a lot of goo guns in to slow the helicopters down!

Enjoy!

rokiroki,

Your very top row of missile towers don't really reach the helicopters, you might want to reposition those to be more effective. Also use juggling...
