I have about 300 1-GB files on an external drive that I've copied onto iCloud Drive for archiving.

Before I wipe the external drive, I'd like to check to confirm there are no file errors. I assume Apple probably does some checking in the upload process, but it would be nice to verify manually.

I tried using the Compare Folders app on my Mac, which revealed a hidden issue. When files are uploaded to iCloud Drive, the system apparently appends ".iCloud" to each filename. So the comparison app saw them all as being a mismatch. I'm not finding any way to tell it to ignore this.

Has anyone else found a good way to verify files uploaded to iCloud Drive? I'd like to do a checksum match rather than just filename and byte size comparison.

do the sha/md5 (sha is better) hashes on the original volume.

mount the icloud on a new device, let it sync and then compare the hashes. That way you know whether it has been stored correctly.
