I'm still getting to grips with my new Mac studio and am trying to open jpeg files from my NAS which was used on my PC.
Every image i try and open (by double clicking), I get "the file couldn’t be opened because you don’t have permission to view it."

'Get info' permissions are set to read/write and I see the preview image thumbnail too. The files open in Photoshop and I can also drag into my browser and they open ok.
Viewing the files by icon, I also see all the preview images within the folder(s).

How can I fix this permission error?

Do you have a USB flash drive around?
One that is "Mac formatted" (HFS+)?

You could try this:
1. Copy the non-openable file to the flashdrive
2. Click the flashdrive's icon (on the desktop) ONE time to select it
3. Summon up the "get info" box for it (type command-i)
4. At the bottom of get info, click the lock icon and enter your password
5. Look for a box, "ignore ownership on this volume" -- put a check into it
6. Close get info
7. Try opening the file now.

No promises.
In lieu of a flashdrive, a Mac-formatted external drive would do.

Thanks but it appears my Mac showed the nas x3 times on my desktop for some reason and a restart fixed things.
