i have burned a 1.72 gb file to a dvd from a windows machine

then i put it in the new imac 24" 3.06 ( week 20 got lucky :D ) and copied it to the hd. everything is fine until it reaches 100%. it hangs there and gives me error -36 file cannot be read/blah blah blah. but i notice the hd size decrease, with no file in sight on the hd. is there a way to get back that space or will it be gone forevER? thanks

Do you still have the original?
If so copy it again and when it stops look for that file after you swithed on invisible files.
If you see it move it to a different place and try if its working, maybe you are lucky.
The file is invisible!
