My wife is having a problem with the AppleTV giving an error saying the file was not in a valid format or something similar when she tries to stream video to it (I'm at work, she texted me)... it all worked last night, is this a known problem?

The ATV (just bought it used) has some hacks, including Perian I think, installed, just for information. Any ideas on a solution for her? I told her to restart iTunes and unplug the ATV and plug it back in, but she says that didn't help...

(Hm, I better remind her that clicking the little red bubble doesn't quit most programs in OSX, which I still think is an inconsistantly and incorrectly implemented UI design. The same button is used for different actions depending on context, but there's no indication of the context change to the user).

Try to re-sync and see if it fixes it. If not close iTunes and reopen. One of the 2 usually fixes it in my case.

I have no idea why it does that sometimes.

Thanks for the help guys. It turned out that Handbrake crashed my system pretty hard and brought iTunes down with it (system was responsive, but apps were all hung). Had to restart and everything was fine.

I've since figured out what was causing HB to crash (I think), so hopefully I'll have no more problems...
