I downloaded a file the other day to my external lacie drive but now I cant find it. Or rather I cant see it. I know the path to the file:
/Volumes/LACIE/Downloads/file.wmv which if I type into VLC or WMP it works fine. However if I look for the file its nowhere to be seen!!

I've tried searching in spotlight which didnt help. I dont know how to use terminal very well or I'd try find it like that.

If I use Azureus to set an automatic download point it finds a folder called Volumes, with aliases inside for my internal and external drive, but theres also a folder named LACIE, but I dont know how to get to this hidden Volumes folder!

Can anyone offer any advice?

Use Finder search and add the Visibility attribute in search options. That should help.

Couldnt work out how to get finder search. All I could see in finder was the usual spotlight search

I worked out how to use terminal tho (from my dos knowledge)! In my root folder there was a folder called /Volumes/ which contained 3 things. My internal disk "Mac HD", my external "LACIE 1" and a folder "LACIE" inside this folder was the hidden file so I just used the mv command to move it to my desktop.

Now I know its safe I'll restart and hope that it gets rid of this wierd LACIE folder!

You can also use the "Go to folder..." command in the Finder if you know the path of what you are looking for. It is listed under "Go" in the Finder menu bar.
