After playing with the Good reader app which i love. If VLC can create a app with the XVID, DIVX and MKV codecs built into the app, the playing movies will be a dream. Especially since I don't have to do any transcoding.

Please please please please!!!!!!!!

They wouldn't be approved. The only video "codec" that can be used is their H.264 wrapper.

It's not about if it could, it could definitely be done and would have been done by now.

Awww that sucks. This is the only thing that separates a netbook and a iPad

Functionality wise. What can a netbook do that a iPad can't? Other running xvid, divx through installing codecs. With the exclusion of flash, of course.

Free Slingplayer

You can get a much better player for $30.

For a few dollars you can get VNC clients that are much more immersive than Netbooks.

Isn't gps on the iPad for the 3G model and most netbooks don't have gps

Multitasking = iPhone 4.0 and regardless if you can or can't, I can still do the dame job.

Isn't there a slinglayer for the iPhone. Just because it isn't free doesn't mean you can't do it

VNC client is avalaible on iPhone but not that good. If you want to remote connect logmein works just fine as I used to manage my bittorents from work.

You are basically being picky like netbooks to full fledged computers. Edit: iPad is close enough to a netbook

I use RealVNC. I dont want to be nickel and dimed for every app i want to run.

Your question was What can a netbook do that a iPad can't? The ipad is a niche product. It does some things better than a netbook, but does somethings worse or not at all.

I didnt even mention newsgroup reader, bittorrents, dvdcopy, video conference, run multiple OSs

I also use my netbook to inerface with PLCs. Good luck attempting to do that with iPad
