I have a password protected app that I use for work, where I place files that my clients have under NDA. I temporarily store them on my iPad for review and editing while on the road and in the air. The problem is -- even though the app is password protected -- the Files app of the iPad unmasks the files and allows access from the Recents file list, bypassing the password protection of my app entirely. This seems to be a huge security hole and I can't figure out how to get around it.

Is there a way to remove files from the Recents view in the current version of iPadOS? If not, will the new upcoming privacy features allow me better security of these files?

I know the entire iPad can be considered secure by the password and face recognition locks, but it's not enough for people who work with sensitive information.

I found the following possible work-around. Test to see if it works for you.

“Open the Files app. Go to Browse tab. You'll get a list of the Locations you've authorized Files to access: iCloud, Google, etc. Your Recents tab displays recently viewed files from any authorized drive - not just iCloud.

Tap the three dots "..." in the upper right hand corner of the screen and select "Edit" from the popup menu that will appear. To clear the Recents view for any drive turn access off by tapping the Green Button. This clears the Recents view. You can then turn access back on by tapping the button again. A little kluggy but it works.”

Wow, that worked! Thanks!

Seems like a big hole that security-conscious Apple should fix. I'm certain there are many people like myself in secure fields that need better data security. Thanks again.
